The HC4A (Hindu Charities for America, a non-religious 501 (c) (3) charity), with the motto, “Serve Where You Live!”TM   launched with Scholarship Award of $5, to Dallas Community College District on December 10 2019. Five economically disadvantaged students who are legal US residents will receive $500 each for Spring 2020 and Fall 2020 semesters.

Accepting the check from Karthik and Praveen, Lori Watson said “We thank you for your investing in our students and their future though your Computer Information Technology Scholarship which will provide financial support to students who otherwise would not be able to afford a college education.”

This charity is “for America.” It is a unique concept; Indians in the United States have long been sending justifiable aid to India, whether it be through donations for specific projects or remittances. HC4A does not seek to replace or supplant such efforts. Rather, the HC4A seeks to increase awareness of Hindu Americans as a charitable group, thereby promoting steps towards tolerance and acceptance across society. By benefiting local American communities and encouraging concerted efforts by all members of the community through charitable action, HC4A has struck a unique chord in Indo-American society.

The HC4A Dallas team is proud to announce that they have raised over $5,000 towards vocational scholarships since the launch event. Additionally, Praveen Chintha, Arun Kumar Ponnusamy and Vignesh Shanker have joined HC4A Dallas Foundation Board that will help establish an endowment fund with the object of funding scholarship in Dallas metropolitan area. The endowment fund cannot be dissolved so will continue to support those students in need.
